Dear Sirs and Madam,
I am writing in relation to a letter I received today from Leeds City Council regarding the war memorial which is to be erected at the entrance of Bramley park. I was unaware that this was taking place and I am hoping it isn’t too late to add a entry to the list of falling soldiers. My great grand uncle, Harry Sutcliffe (D.O.B. 29th May 1897) who lived at 6 Quarry View Terrace, Hough End, Bramley and died on 3rd May 1917. His rank was Lance Corporal in the 18th bn. West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own). I have attached some certificates & photos for your information and a link to his profile on ancestry.com is below: http://trees.ancestry.co.uk
Due to my great grandfather being upset that he lost his only sibling, he threw away the medal that was awarded to him. Because of this, there is no memorial of him except his grave in France. It would be wonderful if his name could be represented on the War Memorial which is due to be complete on Monday 4th August of this year and I hope that it is not too late.
Many Kind Regards,
Antony William Kershaw Sutcliffe
